Funded by the German Federal Foreign Office, this scholarship supports future leaders from developing and emerging countries who want to promote democracy, social justice, and good governance in their home countries.
You’ll pursue a Master’s degree at one of Germany’s top public universities and gain skills that prepare you for leadership roles in international organizations, government, or civil society.

🌍 Who Can Apply?
You’re eligible if you:
✅ Are from a developing/emerging country (full list in PDF linked below)
✅ Hold a bachelor’s degree in social sciences, political science, law, economics, public administration, or a related field
✅ Have relevant professional or voluntary experience
✅ Want to work in public service, NGOs, international organizations, or government
✅ Have English proficiency (TOEFL/IELTS or equivalent proof)

You don’t apply through DAAD directly. You apply to the university(ies) of your choice from the list above, with a request to be considered for the DAAD Helmut Schmidt Scholarship.
